Some Steve Adventures

Swimming in November, duh.
Steve is a big motivation for me all the time, and without him I might become a bit of a hermit haha. Thankfully he is my little partner in crime, and we love to explore together. Here are some of the fun places we went this month!
"Come on in Mom, the waters fine!"

These are all downtown Dayton by Deeds dog park.

Just kicking it with the Wright bros.

We found a temple nearby with an awesome statue of Buddah and a little fountain with offerings in front of it of fruit.

Speakeasy Yoga

Tori!
I'd set a goal for myself to take a class this year, but I wasn't set on what kind- maybe a dance class, maybe take Steve to obedience class and get human lessons, you know. One day at work, some lovely coasters showed up with all the flyers. The design peaked my curiosity, and I realized this lovely lady I know, Tori, had opened her own yoga studio downtown! I went to the website that night and was so into the idea, and the beginner discount was something I could swing no problem. So I signed up and got my roomate to sign up to(which sadly she only made it to one class because her job got so hectic with the Easter holiday). I have become OBSESSED. I love it so much you guys! Finally some exercise that I enjoy, and I really feel it. I can feel myself becoming healthier, and stronger, and more flexible, its so neat!

Ideally what I wish my house looked like.

Line up your mats, and get ready!

The lovely view from inside.
sThe practice is in a room where the temperature is kept around 90 degress which you know I'm into because I'm a cold-blooded lizard lady who wants to live on a hot rock in direct sunlight at all times. So that right off that bat adds an element of difficulty, and I'm usually drenched in sweat by the end of class. There's three different classes: Strong- which is a fast paced kick you butt in a good way work out, Simple- which is good for beginners and a more gentler paced class, and Slow motion- which is good for stretching it way out and holding poses and getting really in tune with yourself. All classes focus on breathing as well which is nice because I've always liked meditation but have a hard time clearing my mind. This is like moving meditation, so my mind is focused on positioning my body correctly into each pose and keeping my breath steady and strong. Perfect.

They've got everything you might need to borrow - mats, blocks, blankets, towels, cleaning supplies to keep your mat in tip-top shape, and straps. There's also a shower room in case you have to hurry and head somewhere directly after class! Changing rooms as well.

I really love Speakeasy, I love how I feel after class- so fresh and new and strong, I love learning new moves and strengthing. I love getting to know new people there, and the teachers getting to know me and tease me like old friends. I love pretty much everything about it! If you're like me and you want a good work out and are not into running, you should probably give it a shot. Check out the website here and give the new student discount a whirl!

366 - Week 3

25/366 - I was very behind on sleep between staying up for the X-Files and opening the shop a few morning in a row, so I spent the afternoon napping with Steve and watched the second episode that night.
26/366 - Stopped into Warehouse 4 again, can’t get enough of that S’mores flavor!!
27/266 - Got donuts from Bill’s before running errands. So damn good :)
28/366 - I got a Stanley thermos from Kroger on sale!! This thing is like magic, I looove it. I made soup, and several hours late when I opened it for dinner at work, it was piping hot!! So awesome.
29/366 - Steve and I sent this photo to my Mom to make her smile, because her shoulder has been hurting her. She said it worked :)
30/366 - The view of the sunrise from work was pretty beautiful!
31/366 - Just honing my craft ;)

Snow Day #2

The second snow of the year was a lot more impressive and long lasting. I put Steve in his fleece that my Mom sewed for him for Christmas, and layered up myself and took us for a walk. We had a good time frolicking in the neighborhood! I wish it was like last year when Steve was still a little baby who didn’t want to run away into an adventure. I used to be able to take him to the creek and let him off the leash and he would run around on the ice and in the snow but still stay close. Ah well. I was surprised it stuck, it’d been so warm I was sure the ground was too hot. Anyway here’s my cute shots of Steve rocking his winter fleece in the snow!

Flapping his lips in the breeze!

Snoowwww

I have no idea what I got in my hair, but it sure was yellow...

"I get da stick!"

Same facial expression but while sitting haha.

Carriage Hill

Anne had another park recommendation for Steve and I, and oh it was a good one. We trecked out on November 3rd and it was a sweltering 75 degrees- seriously I went thinking 'Oh, it's fall, I know it's gonna be in the 70s today but it won't be muggy or crazy hot' and ended up peeling off a few layers to just a tank dress and was still sweating my buns off. Ohio is the weirdest! But I love it.
It was super gorgeous, there was a lake and a little pond, and lots of different trails. I only took one that was like 2 miles long and there were 4 or 5 others... I'll be back sometime. There was also a farm! It said no dogs though so I didn't explore, but that's there for next time.

Woodland Cemetery Murder Mystery and Mayhem Tour

Madi is cute as a button!
I was googling fun fall things to do around Dayton, and came across an event my favorite cemetery was hosting titled "Murder, Mystery, and Mayhem Tour" and you know I was so stoked. Thankfully Madi and Lauren were also stoked(but Lauren ended up nursing a nasty hangover and ended up spooning Steve all afternoon). They gave us all lanterns(not oil though, which is good because I dropped mine...) and as soon as we started in a storm rolled in and we got drenched! It was awesome though, it totally set the mood, it was so spooky and gorgeous. I never imagined that there were such interesting stories behind some of headstones, I guess I always just imagined everyone died of normalish circumstances? I never really thought about it. But there are murderers buried there, and victims, and some of them never even got justice. Also our tour guide was hilarious, and we loved her. I think they said that was the last tour of the season, but when they start back up, you bet I'll be going to more!

Johnny was a little boy who fell into the canal. His dog jumped in and pulled him out but he had already drowned. His dog stayed by his grave for weeks until he disappeared. The family didn't have enough money for a headstone, but a local artist heard the story and was touched and made this monument for them.

So spooky!

Spooky creeps!

Sugar Creek

Since moving back to Dayton, I've been exploring and finding all kinds of places I never knew existed! My boss Anne knows about all kinds of great metro parks and recommends them to me because I always want to take Steve on hikes to wear his energizer bunny butt out. These photos are of Sugar Creek, and it was so lovely. Steve got anxious in the prairie, but other than that we had a great time. Lots of neat things to see!
One of the three sisters.

A beautiful tunnel.

I think Steve wanted to find a dog he saw earlier, and was nervous about not being able to see through/over the tall grass.
