Hiking Bill Yeck Park

I asked one of our regulars at the shop where he likes to hike and he recommended Bill Yeck park, which I'd never heard of. Always down to explore new places in nature, I had the good fortune of having a sunny warm Friday off of work. I loaded up Steve and we set off for adventure. It was a pretty darn lovely place to hike for sure, I was kind of concerned about getting lost a lot of the time though. Also there was a part called wild flower hillside, and there were no wild flowers on any hillside, so that was a mild let down, haha. Nonetheless I had fun watching Steve sniff around like a wild man, and bravely jump into the stream for some light swimming. Between that and yoga, I could barely move that evening, and spent it cleaning up my laptop(spring cleaning, lol!). I sure do love my little exploring partner :)
I must have crossed at least 5 of these in different places which got confusing and made me wonder if I was going in circles.

Deer tracks!!

Apparently, Steve is part meerkat.

Most interesting tree EVER

Hiking in John Bryan

Last week I happened to get the good fortune of being off on a beautiful sunny 73 degree weather day! I loaded up Steve and headed out to Yellow Springs. I got a coffee from The Spirited Goat which was pretty good, and off we went! Here's some photos of us hoofing it around :)

"I hear somefink over dere"

"Now I hear somefink over dere!"

These panoramas kill me, he moved in both and it distorted him into such a derp!

Cutest hiking buddy ever!!

Woodland Hiking

It got really warm for a couple of days so I decided to go walk around Woodland with Steve. I hadn’t been since probably November so it was nice to visit one of my favorite haunts in Dayton. It was so warm some crocuses had bloomed which was kinda sad because the next day they were buried in a layer of snow. We enjoyed our hike and were pretty pooped afterwards(there are some serious hills in there that will kick your butt!!). Steve wasn’t even scared of the giant angel statue this time, what a brave boy.

Excuse me sir, can you move your nose out of my photograph.

A Walk in the Woods

The landlord to our current place keeps wanting to show our place while we're in the midst of moving out of it. I knew he was going to show it today so I tidied up extra nice, loaded up the dogs, and left to go on a hike so I wouldn't have to be around for it because it makes me super anxious. I just punched "hiking" into the maps app and went off to a cute nearby woodsy area. It was so lovely and peaceful out there, I could be totally in the moment and not worry about anything for a bit. Just giggling at the boys because I tied their leash's together and let them walk each other. Here's some cute shots of the boys and I frolicking in the lovely fall weather.

Red River Gorge

Sometime over the summer Jared came home and said his coworkers recommended we go hiking and camping at a place called Red River Gorge. Little did he know, my coworkers had also told me similar. It was decided that as soon as the weather cooled down(so we could bring Bufford) and we both had a day off together, we'd go down and check it out. Originally we planned to camp, but it ended up being a day trip(which is fine with me because I'm more of a sleep in my bed at the end of the day kinda gal anyway). Boy, did it blow my mind!

The first stop off we checked out was the suspension bridge. There were a lot of nice friendly people out hiking.

Jared tried to climb this rock but lost his footing and slid all the way down and skinned his knee.

Bufford being the center of attention and the apple of everyone's eye as usual.

Some lion king dinguses.
Then we stopped at an area labled "Whistling Arch" which peaked my curiosity. When we first hiked out we were led to a rocky area and a neat arch and hole in the rock. That was fine and dandy until we noticed a little trail under the arch. Behind it was a small cliff that a family was scaling down. We patiently waited for them to descend and then we headed up. Boof was like a little mountain goat, he did most of the climbing himself! When we got to the top I pretty much fell to my knees in terror. We suddenly up on a huge cliff, and Bufford and Jared waltzed right up to the edge like it was no big deal. I was in the fetal position. I thought for sure my dog was gonna walk right off the edge and take Jared down with him. I'm convinced he has no depth perception, how else could he be that bold?!
Miles and miles...

Can you see the fear in my eyes?

This guy thinks he's a goat.

Majestix

We stopped off at one last place because we knew the sun would go down after that. It was called Angel's Windows or something like that. No more cliffs, but lots of arches, and little overhang formations. Very very pretty.

I'm sure we didn't even see half of what's there, and I already can't wait to go back! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the outdoors and isn't afraid of heights :)
