A Walk in the Woods

The landlord to our current place keeps wanting to show our place while we're in the midst of moving out of it. I knew he was going to show it today so I tidied up extra nice, loaded up the dogs, and left to go on a hike so I wouldn't have to be around for it because it makes me super anxious. I just punched "hiking" into the maps app and went off to a cute nearby woodsy area. It was so lovely and peaceful out there, I could be totally in the moment and not worry about anything for a bit. Just giggling at the boys because I tied their leash's together and let them walk each other. Here's some cute shots of the boys and I frolicking in the lovely fall weather.

DIY Repurposed Terrarium

Jared had his quarterly week off, and agreed to go thrifting with me. We went to my new favorite huge one, and we found some great stuff! One of my best finds being this little glass terrarium I instantly saw potential in. It was dusty, old, fully of old rotten flowers, and a little fake bird. I snatched it up with full intentions of transforming it.

Here's the horrifying beginnings. I scooped all that out and washed it up. Then we went for a walk in the woods and collected goodies.

Added some pebbles on the bottom for water runoff. Then...

Tah-Dah!! It turned out even better than I had hoped. I love it so much :)

I'm pretty thrilled about it, Jared carefully scooped the mushrooms of of some decaying trees, and I gathered the moss. I hope it lives a long and happy little life in there!

Money is finally balancing out, and I'm on a budget, plus we've had great discounts at work which all make for a wonderful equation that means: NEW CLOTHES!! Ahh yes, haha. I felt really adorable in this outfit and got lots of compliments from my coworkers. The sad thing is that it's August and I wasn't hot in that cardigan, this summer has been a bit of a ripoff. Lots of cloudy rainy lukewarm days. I honestly miss the days where it feels like my skin is going to melt off... maybe I'm the only one but, it makes swimming so much more refreshing. Also eating ice cream, but anyways. I'm really into this outfit, and I feel like they're great staple pieces because they can be mixed and matched all kinds of ways.

Cincinnati Sky on Fire!

So a few weeks ago Jared and I were being couch potatoes and marathoning NY Ink on Netflix, when I looked out the window and saw the sky doing some crazy stuff! I jumped up and grabbed my camera and tried to take photos that did it justice. It was incredible, it looked like someone put a filter over everything the way you would a photo on instagram.

There's.... Something in the Trees!

So Jared and I were out on the back patio with Bufford making s'mores the other night when we heard something rustling in the area behind the garage. I started to get scared thinking a rabid wild animal was going to charge at us and steal my delicious melty treats. Jared(or should I say the vessel Steve Irwin occasionally possesses), grappled up the fence like the assassin's creed guy and onto the garage roof in one swift movement and began flashing his cell phone light into the trees. Not one, two, or even three, but FOUR pairs of glowing eyeballs blinked back at us like something from Scooby-doo. At first we thought they were possums, but as I passed him my camera and he sort of began to attempt to focus on our subjects, we discovered they were raccoons! Now I know who digs in my garden, little rascals...

Luna Moon Moth

Jared had a bunch of work friends over a couple of weeks ago to play card games, and we noticed this little moth dancing in the window. It flew up into the light and we forgot about it until everyone went home and it followed us and the lights upstairs. At first I was scared of it because anything with more than 4 legs creeps me out, but it was so soft and fluffy and calm that I didn't stay scared. I named it Luna, and she rested on Jared's finger until he placed her next to his pillow on the nightstand and fell asleep haha.

Spring Skulls

Today has felt like the first real day of spring. I'm blogging outside on my back porch to enjoy this gorgeous day! Thankfully Jared had the morning off so he got to enjoy it for a little while before he left for work. We decided to take Bufford for a walk, which quickly turned into a hike through the woods by our house, which led to some really awesome finds...

Bones!! A whole Deer skeleton in fact! It was right on the trail. Looks like it was a buck because of the antler stumps. No antlers though :( We kept hiking around and I went off the trail and behind the tree and I found another pile of bones! A much smaller critter this time.

Bufford had no interest in the deer bones which I thought was odd, but as soon as I found this guy he was all over it.

Trying to eat it, lol.

Then Jared let me carry the little one so he could put Bufford back on his leash when we came back out to the road. I didn't realize the teeth weren't in that well and they fell out as we hiked. I was pretty bummed. So we crossed the street and went into the other side of the woods. I started to look around and what do you know! Another skull! With lots of teeth and the jaw!

Crocuses!! Its officially Spring to me!

"Oh hey Mom, Lemme sniff that for ya there..."

So tonight after work Jared is gonna bring home some bleach(EDIT: I was just informed bleach will ruin them, so don't listen to me, lol. Apparently a peroxide bath is key, gonna go look up how to concoct that c;) and an old bucket from work and we're gonna clean them all out! Pretty fun morning. We almost went to the mall, I'm pretty glad we decided to enjoy the weather instead :)

Isn't this dome awesome?! Picked it up thrifting with my friend Alyssa last week and was telling Jared "Maybe I can find a cool skull to put in it." Ha!

This is the best one, there's a tooth we gotta glue in haha.
