Colourpop Ulta Matte Lippies

I am SO excited about these new lipsticks! Ever since Madi and Lauren came to visit in October and let me try on theirs, I've been dying to get my own but just kept putting it off. Well, you may or may not know that I battle dermatillomania- a compulsive skin picking disorder. It stems from anxiety. I pick mainly at my lips and cuticles. It can get pretty bad sometimes and the scarring on my lips can be embarrassing. It got pretty bad recently- It's not always stress/anxiety induced, don't worry I'm doing pretty well in that department lately. Sometimes it's boredom/lack of things to do with my hands and they just fidget into picking.- and I figured putting on some lipstick would give my lips time to heal and discourage me from picking(don't wanna smudge that color!). The color choices of lipstick I had are all pretty old and or extremely wild in color... I wanted something a little more subtle yet still interesting. I knew Colourpop would be there to save the day. I got on and ordered three matte lippies, and thanks to their coupon for signing up to their newsletter I got $5 off! The email I got said it could take 3-5 days to process, and and extra 2-3 because they've been extra busy lately. I was a little disheartned to have to wait but to my surprise I ordered them on Tuesday and they arrived Saturday! Super fast!! I eagerly watched the tracking on my phone at work while it said they were out for delivery and hurried home to get them when my shift ended. Oh they're glorious!! I just adore them. I struggled to restrain myself from ripping open the packaging so I could take a photo of the cute sticker on the outside. I immediately tried on all three(much to my lip's dismay of rubbing colors off) and oh they're so great!!

Trap

 Kind of a gray beige. Into it.

Clueless

 Gorgeous, dusty rose color.

Beeper

 A darker, dramatic rosey beige.

Like I said, they're pretty darn awesome. They stay on really tough, I have to get creative to get it off because I don't have makeup remover. I used an oil based lotion haha. I didn't take my time here as you can see, but you can get away with not wearing a liner if you get precise with your brush. They're gorgeous pigments. You can wear chapstick underneath if you prefer, which might make it wear off easily when you eat, but makes it easier to take off at the end of the day.

Feeling Strangely Sexy...

I've been a fan of MSI since Jared introduced me to them at age 15. I had a huge crush on Jared(what else is new) and I wanted to get to know him and I knew that they were his favorite band, so I asked him to burn me some cds. After a bit he finally got around to it, and I eagerly went home to listen and was like "um." haha, they're not for the faint of heart. They're fun, inappropriate, distasteful, and all around great. Then all at once I was crazy about them and was buying their cds myself at Hastings. When I moved up to Alaska I remember back to school shopping and finding one of their shirts at Hot Topic and I was so stoked. That shirt helped me catch the eye of a lot of my future friends there who were into music just as weird as I was. So since my hair is purple, it finally dawned on me to recreate the cover art drawn by the amazing Jamie Hewlett from their album Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy:

My Makeup Bag

Excuse my bleeding lips, I've been picking mercilessly.

So the idea came to me this morning to do a post about what my every day makeup routine is! It's super simple bc I'm not really skilled, and I'm also pretty lazy/low maintenance in that department.

BOOP! That's it, lol. On the most typical day, this is all I put on. Okay so we've got the adorable bag I got for $.09 at the thrift store, standard lash blast mascara you can get literally anywhere, a basic sephora slanted eyebrow brush, Kat Von D eyeliner, and Anastasia dark brown brow powder! Voila. When I used to work at Fusian, I met a girl named Erika who introduced me to the world of amazing eyebrows. I had always just plucked mine to death and called it a day. I met her and marveled at how she shaped and filled. She explained how she filled them in and so I set off to find out how I could sculpt mine into masterpieces. What I found was Anastasia and I've never looked back. Though I will say my Mom got me some urban decay brow stuff for my birthday that I use from time to time that is super rad as well. The Anastasia is over a year old and I still have a ton left... I know you're supposed to throw makeup out after 3 months or something but... I think it's safer than old mascara or something that's going to give you a stye. I dunno, makeup ain't always cheap, I hold onto it as long as I can haha. Then last year Madi introduced me to the heaven that is Kat Von D's eyeliner. I was using some Mabelline drug store pot and brush crap that went on liquid and dried like glue, and I'd rub it off and pull it off at the end of the day and end up ripping out eyelashes, and it was painful and sloppy and ugh why did I bother? Well Madi showed me the light when we were at Riotfest, and everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. She let me borrow it pretty much every morning as I got ready and I was like "I have to get my own, this is the best". It's so much easier to put on and I have so much more control, it's great! It stays on, doesn't smudge, dries quick. So I slap these things on in the morning if I'm feeling like it, and I'm off! Now you know my little beauty secrets :)
