The Great Garden Hose Battle

Okay forewarning kinda-  this post is going to be image heavy so I apologize to all of your computers- but all of these photos are gems and it was hard enough to narrow it down to these.
It has been hotter than blue blazes in Ohio this past week, and muggy as all get out, so I was trying to find the sprinklerin the basement so the dogs could frolic in the water and cool down. I knew Steve would be game because I squirted the hose at him once and he was ready to play. Bufford I figured would hang out on the porch and watch because he is dainty and hates to get wet or muddy. Well we couldn't find it, and we being extra counter productive(we were planning on cleaning the house, not destroying the basement to find a sprinkler), so Jared just headed out back and pulled out the hose and a water war broke out! Steve Stephens vs. the hose. It was hysterical! Steve kept forgetting or maybe didn't realize that Jared was controlling the hose and kept lunging at it as he snapped at the water. He looked so silly and happy. I'm editing together a highlight reel of clips of video I took of him too. Okay without further ado, here's some of the photos I snapped.(by the way it took me a minute but I figured out how to up my shutter speed, but it kinda made all of my photos dull in color. I should reed my camera manual probably...)
Derp.

Gulp!

Haha, this looks like some weird version of those water squirting games they have at fairs and festivals.

Haha, yeah right.

The Cone

Everyone probably knows about my obsession with ice cream by now. I decided to look up a unique place to get ice cream because I was getting burnt out on the same old same old at Dairy Queen. Boy, did I hit the jackpot...
It's called "The Cone" and it is magical!! They have twists, dips, sundaes, and so much more! There's even a side section of frozen yogurt if you're into that. We brought Bufford along with us, and he garnered a lot of attention of course. I got him a cone and instead of licking it like a sane being, he bit off the entire top and chewed on it with the more bewildered look on his face. Such a dingus. Jared got a dipped cone, cotton candy shell. I got a strawberry twist. I'm so in love with this place, not only is it delicious, but it's adorable.

...there it goes.

I cannot WAIT to go back!!

Swimming!

A few weeks ago I went swimming with my little brother Duke and Cousin Hailey at the Natural Springs Resort in New Paris. Its definitely one of my favorite places to go swimming. There's a diving board, a dock you can swim out too, and you can even go scuba diving in the deep part to see a submerged car. Anyway, my Mom was also in attendance too, but she didn't swim. At first I was just sunning on the beach with Mom, but the kiddos convinced me to dive in. I swam and swam until my body was achy. We tried to teach Hailey how to dive but it wasn't really working, and when I tried to dive off the diving board, I somehow managed to hurt my neck so that really didn't inspire grace or bravery in anyone. We still had a blast, and when we got tired, those two tried to catch fish with a net by luring them closer with Doritos.
On the was home we passed a cemetery with three fawns in it. I made Mom stop so I could attempt to take a piture. Once we got home, Mom made dinner and I was starving! I ate a huge steak, two and a half ears of corn on the cob, and a ton of caprese salad! Delicious. I wish every day off in summer could be like that day :)
Selfie time.

liddle deer.
Hope you're having fun in the sun too!

Summer Solstice

So I wanted to hang out and watch the sun set for the solstice but I kind of forgot and got engrossed in something on netflix. You can't really see it from our house anyways, and it was just Bufford and I hanging out. I did put forth an effort to catch some lightning bugs and put them in a jar while Boof watched curiously from the porch. I felt like such a kid, in the best meaning of the phrase. It was so light and fun and carefree to run around the yard and grab them all. They're the only bugs I am not afraid of, they could not possibly bare any ill will, so we have a mutual trust. It was about impossible to get a photo of them glowing. They were all pretty miffed with me stuffing them into a jar and refused to light up, so I let them go right away.
I hope you're enjoying your summer so far!

Bufford vs Watermelon

Jared and Bufford were supposed to share this watermelon... but Boof is a selfish only child. It started when we were putting away the groceries, and Bufford came sniffing over. I egged him on asking "ooh what is it?!" and started to roll it across the floor. Of course a wild chase ensued across the living room, and before you knew it we were outside watching him devour the whole thing. Needless to say giving him the whole thing was probably a bad idea... but he was pretty happy about it. #spoiled

what a dork.
