70/366 - Spent the day with Sophie, and we voted!!

Detroit Trip

Sophie decided to get a passport the quick way by going to an agency, and the closest one was in Detroit, so she asked her brother and I to accompany her. The day came and of course it decided to snow, but Sophie drove slow and got us there safely. It was FREEZING, so we didn’t stay for too long. There seemed like so much fun stuff to see, but we were pretty tired from getting up so early to get there on time for Sophie’s appointment. So we saw a few things, got some lunch, and then headed home.
I kept using the snapchat tags obnoxiously all day. If you wanna follow me its "caderss"

Joe in the huge warehouse bookstore.

Beautiful interiors of a building downtown.

crappy drive-by photography of a cool building with huge statues.

Saw some graffiti

A good but strange salmon burger. Very different.

26 times around the sun

Honestly, my 26th birthday was something I kind of dreaded. For some reason I had it in my head that no one would remember it was my birthday since I didn’t have Facebook to send out that helpful reminder anymore. My Mom had surgery on her shoulder two days before so I couldn’t hang out with her like I normally did. Plus it meant I was halfway through my twenties and I thought the older you got the less people would care.
Boy, was I wrong!
Silly me, I forgot I am surrounded by lots of wonderful people who love me just as much as I love them! Everyone came together to make me feel super special and loved and I ended up having one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.
I worked that morning and my regulars gave me extra tips to show love. Barry, my coworker helpfully announced to everyone it was my birthday which I appreciated because I don’t really want to toot my horn about my birthday, but I do want to feel like the center of the universe haha. Anne, my boss(I mean these people are also my good friends, but I for some reason want to announce I work with them first haha so you know how I know them) showed up to relieve me from my shift with the most beautiful flowers and chocolate!
I went home to let Steve out for a bit, then Sophie showed up and we went out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Christopher’s. We decided to get bloody Mary’s to celebrate, and had a delicious meal. My sandwich was on the house their treat, and Sophie treated me to extras. Then we went to the mall and tried on makeup at Sephora :)
Finally I met back up with Anne and Barry at a restaurant in the Oregon District called Corner Kitchen. Anne treated me to poutine(friggin delicious) and a pear drink, and Barry alerted the Staff it was my birthday and they brought me fried dough with berries and chocolate dipping sauce with a candle in it and the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday to me! I don’t think that’s ever happened to me, and I felt so special. It was such a treat!
I also got loving phone calls, video chats, and messages, from family and friends who couldn’t be with me but wanted to let me wish me happy birthday. I want everyone to know I am so grateful you’re all in my life and I love you all so much! Thank you for making my 26th birthday so amazing!!

A Day Out with Sophie

When Sophie comes to town, its a party. Basically an all day affair of non-stop fun and eating. Here's everything we got into last time she visited.
Pho!
Pho(pronounced "fuh" apparently) has become one of my favorite meals. It was Sophie's first time trying pho, and she looked adorable eating it.
Cutest little nugget.

We went to a fantastic coffee shop and fell in love with the aesthetic.

I want my whole house to look like this!!
We also browsed the local market where we oogled delicious foods, lovely plants, and other lovely items, such as the crystal I purchased.
Amethyst I bought at the market.
The Sign Museum was also a stop on our tour, but I'm saving that for another post because that's a billion photos worth sharing. Sophie's been busy being promoted at work, and getting ready to go back to school so I haven't seen her in a bit, but I know next time I see her is gonna be great!

Exploring with Sophie!

I still have barely seen anything of this city it seems. Thank goodness I have Sophie to go on adventures exploring with or I would have seen nothing but the mall by now! Here's what we got into a few weeks ago.
Delicious macaroons from Whole Foods!

The Train depot! Sophie's parents had their first date there :,)

The American Sign Museum. It was closed but we found a lot of awesome stuff in their parking lot! We have to go back when it's open.

The view outside the depot(and me posing :p)

Being Sophie's muse in a fountain!

Spring Celebration!

This Winter started before "Winter" was technically even supposed to start(winter solstice wise), so it was pretty much the longest Winter ever. They're also calling for snow-according to my iphone- on the 25 which happened on the same exact day last year. I remember because that was my first day of orientation for my new job at the hospital and I was so nervous. Anyway, the weather is behaving in a Spring way at the moment, so I am happy. I have the day off and am even doing some Spring cleaning! Feels good, man. Now if only my allergies wouldn't make an appearance...
Sophie and I hopped a fence to pick some crocuses in an empty neighboring house. We're rebels.
There were so many!!

So we put them in our hair.

We're such cuties :)

Diana Mini

My Grammy got me a Diana Mini camera for christmas, and I got my first roll developed. They turned out AWESOME, I'm so excited. Especially because 35mm film is a lot easier to come by than 120 film, and they turn out the same as my holga would. I messed up the second half of the roll because I had the shutter setting on long exposure on accident, so they're over exposed. But I still got a decent amount of photos back, and I'm excited to take more!

Exploring an abandoned Abby with Sophie and Mark.
Its funny, these were taken just after Christmas, and all that snow s already long gone! I wonder if we'll get more before winter ends.
